The Australasia & Pacific Region is one of the six regional chapters of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), and hold regional conference every 1 to 2 years. The Control Yuan has been a voting member of IOI since 1994. For many years, the Control Yuan has actively participated in international ombudsman activities and human rights work and exerts efforts to internationalize the implementation of control power.
The 31st APOR conference is the second regional conference held in Taiwan since the Control Yuan became an official member of APOR. A seminar on human rights will be held at the same time. The general theme will be The Ombudsman’s Role in Human Rights Protection, inviting APOR member representatives and experts in the fields of ombudsmanship and human rights to exchange their experience and the results of each member in the areas of “Practices and Recent Development of the International Ombudsman Institute,” “The Ombudsman and the Protection of Economically and Socially Disadvantaged People’s Human Rights,” and “The Multifunctional Role of the Ombudsman.” The seminar is expected to promote international ombudsman activities and human rights work.
